Molly realised her love of music after she was gifted “Pop Hits For Piano” in 2007. Something about the chords of Leona Lewis and Take That songs truly made her believe she could do anything. A little later on, when she started to take singing lessons and joining choirs, Molly was branded as a trustworthy alto and the rest is history.
Having gone on to study Music, specialising in singing and production, no one was ready for her recital set-list that included Ariana Grande and Whitney Houston. Molly found a love of leading choirs at university, and adored creating arrangements of her favourite songs so that as many people could enjoy singing them as possible. She is especially keen on helping those who want to achieve new things with their voice - like learning to belt! Since then, she has adored working with all kinds of choirs and singing all around the country.
Molly’s favourite thing about the Groove Chorus is the electrifying energy at performances, and the ability to relive amazing songs with a group of all round incredible singers and people.
Sammy grew up in the quaint village of Broadbottom and many believed that his performance in the role of "Bottom" in a year 6 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream would be the peak of his career but, despite the critics, he has managed to find some success since.
Much to his dismay, at age 13 Sammy was forced to sing in a choir on a school music tour before realising “it’s not half bad, this!” and singing and choirs has been a huge part of his life ever since.
He studied Music at university and whenever he didn’t have a beer and/or a PlayStation controller in his hand, he was usually singing. Whether it was classical choral music and recitals or musicals, operas, a cappella arrangements of Mika songs and everything in between.
Since graduating, Sammy now works as a freelance singer and conductor, working with many different choirs every week (community choirs, workplace choirs and youth choirs) in addition to leading vocal workshops and private singing teaching. What he loves most about his “job” is the opportunity to work with many different people from all walks of life and, of course, creating some groovy tunes along the way.
Silv was forced to join her school choir when she was 11 but much to her surprise she absolutely loved it and hasn’t looked back since. She then joined every choir she could find before heading to Uni and discovered she much prefers having her back to the audience and waving her arms around rather than doing the actual singing.
Silv's career so far has taken her to perform in iconic locations such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Vatican and most recently the fabulous Clapham Grand. Silv was classically trained through proper-proper choral music before the Pitch Perfect hype sparked her love for arranging. She then fell in love with the Gospel groove which is where she picked up her infamous moves.
Back in 2022 over a bottomless brunch, Silv was chatting with a pal about an idea she had to start her own choir. Fast forward a few months and The Groove Chorus was born!
Silv's musical hero is Cascada and her dream is to do a Groove Chorus/Cascada collab. Manifesting this through the website means it will actually happen, right?
Growing up in sunny Brighton, Owen’s earliest exposure to music came from his mum’s Steps and ABBA CDs, as well as the iconic Now That’s What I Call Music compilations (back when they still actually had all the bangers). But it was his 12th birthday gift, The Fame by Gaga, that truly changed the game.
Almost 10 years later, as a keys player and drummer, Owen went on to study jazz at music college, where he discovered he only really likes it in small doses. Instead, he spent most of his time there musically directing projects from musical theatre to pop and everything in between. Since graduating, he now works as a freelance MD, instrumentalist, producer, and arranger.
In his spare time, Owen is an amateur diver (think Tom Daley, just with absolutely no athletic talent) and board game enthusiast - particularly Dobble, at which he considers himself world-class. Owen’s secret mission with The Groove Chorus is to convince Silv & Mol to let him start a ‘House of Jacob Collier’ (his all time favourite musician). Time will tell...
Regular London choir gigs in amazing venues. Plenty of collaborations with all kinds of creatives from DJ's to drag queens!
Not only do The Groove Chorus make amazing music, we make amazing friends along the way.
Each member is given access to studio recorded practice tracks to catch up and perfect their parts.
We challenge choir members to do their worst when it comes to requests. As long as our arrangers feel the inspo, we'll do it!
